Angkor

Angkor was the capital city of the Khmer Empire, which flourished from the 9th to the 15th century. Finally, Angkor was abandoned. The Angkor area contains a large number of temples and buildings, which are among Cambodia's most popular tourist attractions: Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom's Bayon, Banteay Srei, Preah Khan and Ta Prohm. The ruins of Angkor, sometimes with large trees growing over the ruins, are situated amid forests and farmland near Siem Reap in Cambodia. The photographs are digitized slides from 2000. Angkor's ruins may look different now.
